Understanding
I became a therapist because I understand what pain feels like, and I bring deep empathy and compassion to people who are struggling. Life is rarely straightforward — it can leave us feeling lost, alone, and/or overwhelmed, and every person's experience is unique. Through my education and training, I understand the complexity of human behavior - that we are born with various traits but influenced by our environment.
Connection
Our early life plays a critical role in how we learn to manage and regulate our emotions, as well as how we connect to others. Our lives can be affected by family dynamics, trauma, abuse, neglect, socio-economics, and culture. Commonly, we are unaware of how we have been shaped by these factors until we are confronted with some kind of emotional distress, often resulting from loss, stress, relationship conflict, transitions, or illness.
Real Life Experience
When the difficulties of life lead to unwanted feelings of anxiety, panic, depression, grief, irritability, and/or anger we begin to search for help, and I get it - I have experienced many of these undesirable experiences and emotions in my life. In addition to my education and training, I bring lived experience to my practice: I am a woman, a mother, a daughter, a wife, and a psychologist.
Empathy
My sense of understanding and empathy has greatly influenced my therapeutic work and the value I place on creating a safe, compassionate and nonjudgmental space. This is the foundation of my approach. Once you feel safe, we can begin to connect and explore what brought you to therapy. As our relationship grows, so will your trust, both in the therapy and yourself.
Clarity and Growth
You will find yourself more willing to look inward - to gain understanding of your thoughts and feelings, to have clarity of your choices, compassion for your struggles, and strength to make changes. This often results not only in decreased distress, but an internal shift that recognizes that even with life's difficulties, you have the ability to cope, to build authentic connections in your relationships and live a meaningful life.
